quotemarkThe funding announcement by the Federal and Provincial Governments for a new Life Sciences Building at York represents a tremendous boost to realizing the Faculty's mission to play a leading role as an innovator for research and teaching of science and engineering in Canada.

The new building will enable the Faculty of Science and Engineering to contribute vigorously to attracting and training new students in the life sciences at York and to provide its researchers with state-of-the-art laboratories.

The announcement therefore marks a major milestone on the road for York to become a more comprehensive university. FSE is grateful to President Shoukri for his strong endorsement of the building proposal, and we thank his staff for their pivotal role in the planning phase.
